Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo insists Taiwo Awoniyi remains important to the team and is confident he can rediscover his best form.

Awoniyi has started just two Premier League games this season and made 14 substitute appearances after becoming second choice to Chris Wood as the centre-forward.

“He’ll be back, for sure, because he shows it every day, he works so hard and we can’t forget the importance Taiwo has given to Forest and what he has done for this club,” Nuno said of the 27-year-old.

“I’ve been lucky enough to see the number of games Taiwo has been involve in and his form has been at a very high level. I’m sure he’ll get back to that level of play.”

While Chris Wood, who has become the first choice centre forward, has been in fine form this season, scoring 13 goals and helping the team fly as high as 3rd in the table and this week is schedule to play at home to Southampton on Sunday 19 January.
